THEATRE I This introductory course is meant to prepare students for advanced theatre courses at the high school level. Focus is spent primarily on the major techniques of stage acting although play analysis, play writing, dance and stage combat are addressed. One play, rehearsed in class, will be performed for the public. Students are not required but are encouraged to audition for other department productions. See www.broadwaybroncos.com for details.
TECHNICAL THEATRE I This is a course in which the students learn the necessary skills to produce a theatrical production. They will have “hands-on” experience in regards to the backstage side of Theatre. Students will be building scenery, sewing costumes and wiring both lights and sound for the production of a show. The class also prepares students for advanced technical theatre courses where design techniques are built upon Theatre I fundamentals. THEATRE 2, 3 & 4 This advanced theatre course is designed to further develop acting skills including advanced character study, stage combat, playwriting, etc. Production experience is essential to learn so production of a play happens during these classes. Students are expected to participate in at least 1 of the department productions.
TECHNICAL THEATRE 2, 3 & 4 This is a course that focuses on the management aspects of technical theatre as well as the design elements needed to design for the stage. Students will research and design sets, costumes, props, lighting, and sound then build them to see their designs come to life. These students are expected to work on all of the department productions.
JUNIOR VARSITY THEATRE This is a production course designed to further study of the theatrical arts through production. Students will produce several plays, work on technical elements of the productions and continue to advance in history and character study.
VARSITY THEATRE This is an advanced production course designed to further study of the theatrical arts through production. Students will produce several plays, work on technical elements of the productions and continue to advance in history, character study and acting techniques.
